South Bridge Street will close to through traffic from West Juan Linn Street to West Church Street today, Friday, Oct. 16, about 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. so that the chillers on the roof at City Hall, 105 W. Juan Linn St., can be replaced.

So what is a "chiller" anyway? Well, we like to keep you up to date on everything so we've included a full "Ultimate Guide To Chiller Systems" for you to read at your leisure right here. A chiller, "In general, a chiller facilitates the transfer of heat from an internal environment to an external environment. This heat-transfer device relies on the physical state of a refrigerant as it circulates through the chiller system," offers Senseware. So the chiller does just about what you would guess it does, in this case, it keeps the employees and visitors to Victoria's City Hall cool.

A crane will be used to replace the chillers, and the street closure is necessary so that the crane can be operated safely. No worries though, businesses and homes in the area will remain accessible.

The construction and road closures will likely only last a few hours today making the inconvenience unlikely to cause major discomfort for those traveling on South Bridge Street today.

City Hall will remain open today during the construction.
