A 72-year-old San Antonio grandmother was accosted and attacked outside of a gas station in San Antonio during a carjacking. Just moments later the carjacker crashed and died.

From out of nowhere 72-year-old Texas grandmother experienced something truly terrifying. 72-year-old Shirlene Hernandez was assaulted, literally hit full force in the face by an unknown attacker as she was getting a drink outside of a gas station in San Antonio Texas. The unknown assailant wanted her vehicle so after beating her up he jumped into her vehicle and drove off, leaving Shirlene wounded and visibly shaken.

Several men at the convenience store ran to help Shirlene and try to grab her attacker but he managed to close the door and drive away.

This is when the story takes a deadly turn.

Then moments later, the carjacker crashed the car and was killed.

But just like a sweet grandmother would, Shirlene offered her thoughts on the matter, offering sympathy to her assailant.

In a 10tv interview, Shirlene says, "There's a lot of people who would say what goes around comes around — karma, I did not think that. The only thing...I got really sad because he had died. Now granted he had hurt me, but the Lord saw fit to take him out of his misery."

Not surprisingly a GoFundMe to help raise money for a new car was put together for Shirlene who still needs to get to work every day. The GoFundMe account has raised more than $30,000 for Shirlene.

Our thoughts are with this tough Texas grandmother as she continues to heal and forgive.
