Sam Hunt Says He Wants to Start a Family
Sam Hunt has been one of country's music's hottest bachelors, but he says he'd like to settle down and raise a family someday.
Hunt spoke to Taste of Country Nights in the run-up to the 2015 CMA Awards, and the conversation turned to Hillary Scott's daughter, Eisele, who, according to her mom, developed a sweet little crush on Hunt during Lady Antebellum's Wheels Up Tour.
"She came up to say hello one day at catering, and we became buddies," Hunt recalled with a big smile. "We hung out all summer ... she's a blast."
The fast-rising country star said fatherhood is definitely part of his long-term plans.
Twitter Melts Down After Sam Hunt Gets Engaged
"I'm not necessarily ready right this second, but I thought about that a lot, just hanging out with Eisele, how much, at some point, I'd like to have a little girl or little boy, or both, or several," he said. "Yeah, I think that's in my future, hopefully."
He may have just moved one step closer to that. It's been announced that Hunt is engaged to his longtime on-again, off-again girlfriend, Hannah Lee Fowler, who inspired many of the songs on his smash debut album, Montevallo. He has just released a new single titled "Drinkin' Too Much," a jarringly confessional tune in which he shares the highs and lows of their relationship and its aftermath, including the fact that he performed drunk onstage during a major TV awards show appearance.
It's not clear if the song will be included on Hunt's upcoming sophomore release, for which there is no confirmed time frame. The project is among the most anticipated albums in country music in 2017, but Hunt hasn't actually stated that it's coming this year.
Sam Alex is the host of Taste of Country Nights radio, a syndicated night show which airs on more than 60 Townsquare Media Group stations nationwide.
