An entire weekend of fun for the entire family is just down the road in beautiful Rockport!

The Rockport Art Festival is a 43-year-tradition filled with everything from the high-end art showcase to the setting of beautiful bay backdrop. Residents have become accustomed to the town doubling in size with 10,000 attendees during the Fourth of July weekend.

Artists have grown to love it too. "It's one of my main art shows," said Bruce Bitter to the Victoria Advocate. "It's a great festival. "The 60-year-old Austin resident will be featured as the 2012 Poster Artist.He's participated in the festival for 11 years. "I look forward to it every year," he said. His solo exhibit will be featured in the art center gallery until Aug. 4. There will be 120 fine artists including Bitter displaying work with different mediums. Some of the featured artists include Edna De La Garza and George Poe.

Festival goers have the options to purchase one-day or two-day VIP passes. Those who purchase the premium package will save money and time by not having to wait in the general admission line.

The Rockport Art Festival is from 10 a.m to 6 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday outside the Rockport Art Center, 902 Navigation Circle, Rockport. Tickets are $7 adults, Saturday; $6 adults, Sunday; 2-Day VIP pass $10; $1, for children younger than 12
