Riverside Park To Host Memorial Day Festivities

There will be PLENTY to do over the Memorial Day weekend in Victoria and the surrounding communities. I'll try to pass a few suggestions along to you today. let's start with this one.

Riverside Park will be packed with jamming Tejano sound. Houston-based group La Mafia, which has won multiple Grammy awards, will hit the stage at Riverside Park's Special Event Area. Other acts include La Calma, Dotado and Elida.

There are so many activities, organizers had to split the events into two days, says the Victoria Advocate. In addition to the live entertainment, there will be a cook-off, car show and poker run. Promoter Frank Salazar expects 15,000 attendees because of the diverse activities. "It's a family atmosphere," he said.

 The festivities will take place from noon until midnight Saturday and Sunday at the Riverside Park Special Events Area. Tickets will be $10 at the gate, $5 pre-sale.
