One of A Kind Building In Victoria Used to Be Several Businesses
You know the one! It's the "geodesic" building on the corner of Melrose and Laurent!
Have you ever wondered what the unique building with the turtle shell roof, used to be?
We called it the "turtle house" when the kids were younger and we were driving it on our way to Dairy Treet!
Because I have driven by it hundreds of times, I've always dreamed it was the location for my business. Except of course I don't have a business!
But in my head, I've pretended it was my boutique, a specialized classroom, a club, an art gallery...even my house.
So what is this building anyway?
According to the lovely administrators at Northside Baptist Church, which currently owns the building, the building with a funny roof was a flower shop, a meat market, and for many years the home of a Crossroads community member.
But wait, that's not all!
This one of a kind building was also a second-hand shop and for a while, it was one of the Sunday School classrooms for Northside Baptist Church that shared the parking lot with the building until they bought it a few years ago.
However, it might be most known for when it was a bar, appropriately named... The Thirsty Turtle Bar!"
I still haven't given up on one day having a business inside of this unusual building!
What would you do with it????
Here is another fun building in Texas while we're at it...
