#NOTJIMCANTORE HAS BEEN PICKED UP BY YAHOO AND MSN

If you have lived in Victoria, chances are you have probably seen a video from #NOTJIMCANTORE by now.  Most of us were introduced to Cody Shugart's character #notjimcantore during the approach of Hurricane Hanna.  Some might call his videos over the top but for most of us, this brings us a moment of comedic relief. It was just a matter of time before his videos went beyond the Crossroads.  Just yesterday I was scrolling social media and found stories of #NOTJIMCANTORE trending on Yahoo and MSN. How cool is this?

THE BACK STORY OF #NOTJIMCANTORE

I had the pleasure of talking to Cody this morning during the show and he gave us a little backstory of the #NotJimCantore character. He shares that he has always been a fan of 'weird weather events.' He remembers growing up and watching Jim Cantore's Hurricane coverage with his mom and grandpa. He points out that some of Cantore's coverage as being a little over the top  He remembers Jim Cantore struggling to stand in strong winds as people calmly walked behind him.  I have seen that a few times too LOL. Shugart thought it would be fun to do his version of Cantore but amp it up like '10 times.' His videos have gone viral time and time again in our area. As far as the National love from Yahoo and MSN, he was contacted and partnered up with them. They have released two of his videos and they will be pushing these two videos for the masses.

STEPPING UP HIS GAME:

During the approach of Nicholas,  #NOTJIMCANTORE, he stepped up his coverage big time.  He posted 11 videos total during Nicholas and he actually made a trip to Magnolia Beach and Port Lavaca as Hurricane Nicholas made landfall. Talk about dedication!  He also caught the eye of other media outlets. Lighting for his Port Lavaca video(UPDATE #11)  was actually provided by KENS-TV out of San Antonio.
