Yesterday during a training flight, a Navy T-45C Goshawk crashed in Orange Grove, Texas, ( near Matthis and Alice Tx) close to County Road 308 which is a rural area only about 7 miles southwest of Orange Grove's city center and a few minutes away from Corpus.

Thankfully both the Navy pilot and Naval student were able to eject moments before the crash. The pictures and video of the crash look like the plane took a nose dive directly to the ground.

The T-45A aircraft, the US Navy's version of the British Aerospace Hawk aircraft, is used for intermediate and advanced portions of the Navy/Marine Corps pilot training program for jet carrier aviation and tactical strike missions, offers Naval AIir Systems website which you can learn more about perusing their webiste here. According to the website a T-45A costs an estimated $17.2 million dollars, designed specifically for training.

Here is some video of the crash provided by Kris6 News on Youtube.

It happened around 2 p.m. yesterday when the jet crashed againt thankfuly into rural property which was about three miles from the Naval Outlying Field in Orange Grove, according to a spokesperson with NAS-Corpus Christi, offers KiiiTV.

Although both the pilot and students were able to eject before the crash, they were taken to the hospital for observation. Officials stated that the Navy and local emergency services responded to the scene and also helped extinguish a small brush fire started by the crash as well.

One Orange Grove resident offered that she saw the both the pilot and the student gliding down in their parachutes and one of them actually got stuck on barbed wire fence!

Even if they got stuck on barbed wire, we are all grateful to hear they are both safe.
