‘Nashville’ Star Hayden Panettiere Battling Postpartum Depression ‘Holistically’
Hayden Panettiere is still struggling with postpartum depression and is taking time to deal with it “holistically.” The singer sent a tweet on Thursday that indicates she’ll be taking some time off to better herself.
Panettiere plays Juliette Barnes on ABC’s Nashville. May 25 will be the series final episode, as on Thursday (May 12) the network announced that the show is being canceled after four seasons. The 26-year-old actress gave birth to daughter Kaya in December 2014 and has been open about her struggles since. In October she entered rehab for postpartum depression. Her message to fans indicates that she’s still not where she wants to be.

Yahoo reports that Panettiere has entered a treatment facility in Utah.
Panettiere has talked about the positive feedback and overwhelming support she’s received from fans and mothers who’ve gone through something similar. “The biggest message that I’ve been trying to promote for women is that it’s okay to ask for help,” she told People in March.
“It’s like being in a tunnel,” she said. “You can’t even remember when you felt good. You try and think back to when you felt good, when you felt positive, when you felt happy, and you can’t. All you see is this enveloping darkness.”
She also talked about some of the criticism. “It’s like you have no idea what you’re talking about,” Panettiere told Yahoo! Style in March of those who question the crippling depression many mothers face after giving birth. “If you think for one second that a mother wants to feel that way toward her child, you’re outta your mind.”
Panettiere is engaged to boxer Wladimir Klitcschko. Kaya is her first child. Prior to starring in ABC’s Nashville she starred as Claire Bennet in Heroes.
