This news is actually not that shocking considering that there is a Mexican restaurant on every corner. In fact, any South Texas city could be on the list. However, McAllen, Texas, is the most obese city in America, according to a 2025 study by WalletHub.

A majority of the population in McAllen is overweight.

According to the article, 45% of adults in McAllen are obese, with an additional 31% of the population being overweight but not obese. Teenage obesity is also very high in McAllen.

One of the cited reasons is that McAllen has the second-lowest percentage of residents who live close to parks or recreational facilities.

In the same report, San Antonio comes in at number 3 for adults with diabetes.
