Luke Bryan Honors Late Crew Member Marcus Wade With in-Concert Tribute [WATCH]
Luke Bryan took time at his concert in Louisville, Ky., on Sunday night (Feb. 18) to pay his respects to Marcus Wade, one of his crew members who recently died. Readers can press play above to watch the moving performance of Bryan's hit "Drink a Beer."
Forty-six-year-old Wade was killed in a motorcycle accident on Feb. 9; he leaves behind his wife Lori. Bryan's "Drink a Beer" tribute was a stripped-down version of the song; he paused for a moment when Wade's photograph flashed on the screen behind him.
Wade, who lived in Murfreesboro, Tenn., was driving his 1998 BMW motorcycle on Dale Ridge Road, near Smithville, Tenn., when he failed to navigate a curve in the road and struck an embankment, WLJE reports. He was transported to St. Thomas DeKalb Hospital and pronounced dead. Wade's friends have set up a GoFundMe for his wife, to help cover the expenses of the emergency medical services and a celebration of his life.
In addition to working on Bryan's What Makes You Country Tour, Wade had joined Bryan on his That’s My Kind of Night Tour, Kill the Lights Tour and Farm Tour, Rare Country reports. He also worked on tour crews for Jason Aldean, Toby Keith and Keith Urban, among others, during his career.
