Jamey Johnson's concert scheduled for Sunday night (July 23) at the House of Blues in Myrtle Beach, S.C., was canceled at the last minute due to what the venue is describing as a "safety and security guidelines" violation. However, members of Johnson's band are disputing the venue's account of what happened.

Around 7:30PM ET on Sunday night, a post went live on the House of Blues Myrtle Beach Facebook page, stating, "As always, the safety and security of our guests is our number one priority. Tonight’s artist refused to adhere to our safety and security guidelines and would not enter the building. Unfortunately, tonight’s show is cancelled."

The venue's Facebook post continues, stating that organizers "regret any inconvenience to our guests" and that refunds will be available to ticketholders.

Via their own Facebook accounts, however, Johnson's band members are disputing the House of Blues' statement. Around 9:30PM ET, Tony "TC" Coleman, Johnson's drummer, wrote, "IT DID'NT GO DOWN LIKE THAT [sic]," and followed up on Monday morning (July 24) with a full explanation.

"HOUSE OF BLUES DID'NT NEED TO TREAT US LIKE WE WERE TERRORIST. THEY PUT A MEDAL DETECTOR BETWEEN JAMEY'S BUSSES AND THE STAGE ENTRANCE AND THE ONLY PEOPLE COMING IN AND OUT OF HIS BUSES WAS US ... WE ALL HAVE LAMINATED STAGE IDENTIFICATION. WE DID NOT COME TO HOUSE OF BLUES TO BE TREATED LIKE WE ARE GOING TO KILL THE FANS," Coleman writes. "IF SOMEONE CAME BACKSTAGE TO HARM ANYBODY YOU BETTER PRAY THERE IS A JAMEY JOHNSON TYPE INDIVIDUAL AROUND. THE BACKSTAGE AREA IS SUPPOSED TO BE TIGHTLY SECURED FOR OUR PROTECTION NOT TO PROTECT US FROM OURSELVES. HOW CAN YOU EXPECT ANY ARTIST TO GIVE A GREAT PERFORMANCE IF YOU ARE GONNA GIVE HIM OR HER A BUNCH OF S--T BEFORE WE PERFORM. [sic]"

In reply to the House of Blues' original statement, vocalist Melonie Cannon adds, "No one in our band or crew carried a gun in that building ... FYI."

The Boot has reached out to a representative for Johnson and will update this story as more information becomes available.
