Probably one of my biggest complaints about the Lone Star State is how litigious we allow ourselves to be. Do we honestly want to be the type of place where you order a burger without pickles, and it gets handed to you with pickles that we should just sue instead of trying to solve a disagreement in a mature manner?

Sadly, somewhere along the way, even in the friendly state of Texas, we lost our ability to hand anything in a civil manner and instead attempt to get our satisfaction from a civil suit.

According to this KHOU article, a bar owner in New York's capital city of Albany has filed a lawsuit against Texas because our Lieutenant Governor had the audacity to propose calling a New York strip steak a Texas strip. We are the beef state after all, if you have ever eaten a New York strip, odds are very high the cow that donated the cut was from Texas.

Whether or not people start calling a cut of beef by a new name is never going to affect sales. If anything it will gain more engagement between the patron and the guest.
