We have officially begun summer in Texas. This means that temperatures are going to continue to rise. This, inevitably, brings increased chance of dehydration and other health risks. Good food for hot weather
Fruits are always a good option. Not only do they contain rich vitamins and other benefits, they can also help hydrate and nourish your body on a hot summer day. Good fruit options include:

- Cucumbers
- Oranges
Cold drinks can also help mitigate heat-related health concerns. When we sweat, we are losing fluids that our bodies need. If we continuously stay hydrated during these times of over-exertion, we can stay in tip-top shape. Some good options for healthy fluids in summer include:

- Lemonade
- Herbal tea
Frozen snack can also be excellent options on a hot Texas summer day. Just make sure it's not all sugar on a stick. Some good options for frozen treats include:

Bad food options
As tempting as it may be, alcohol and sugary drinks are definitely something to avoid when the sun beats down on us. Instead of soda, store-bought juice and energy drinks, try teas or water. If water bores you, then spice things up by dropping a few slices of cucumber and some squeezed lemon in (woah, don't go crazy now, ya'll).
Spicy and greasy foods also should be avoided during hot summer days outside. Maybe you can save that delicious quarter-pounder for another time. The same can be said about hot and spicy foods. All those will do is spike your heart rate and overheat your body even more.
