Big things are happening in Victoria, and it’s not just talk. The City’sGrowing Victoriaplan is in full swing, and you’ve probably already seen signs of it around town.

First major change in full effect.

UHV is officially becoming part of the Texas A&M University System. It’s a huge move that’s expected to boost local education and bring more recognition and resources to our local university.

Next on the list is in construction.

A long-overdue renovation of the Victoria Community Center. Voters recently approved the project, which aims to give the community a modern, affordable space for events, entertainment, and family fun. The goal is to keep it accessible for everyone.

Victoria continues to grow.

Victoria Village is breaking ground. The new shopping center near Academy and Kohl is set to include Burlington, Ulta, and Five Below, with more restaurants and retailers likely to join soon (Chipotle, if you're reading this WE MISS YOU.)

Behind the scenes, the City is also focused on taking care of its employees, especially first responders. A $3.6 million pay bump is being proposed to help with recruitment and retention, without raising taxes. On top of that, the City Council just approved 16 new public safety vehicles and announced plans for a brand-new Public Safety Headquarters.

Over at the Port of Victoria, things are picking up too. A major deal with Green Energy Origin Texas will bring a $150 million clean energy manufacturing facility to the area which will create more high-paying jobs and economic growth.

Victoria’s not just growing, it’s leveling up.
