UHV Softball Wraps Up Record-Breaking 2025 Season
The University of Houston-Victoria Jaguars wrapped up their 2025 softball season with a hard-fought 7-1 loss to William Carey University in the NAIA National Championship Opening Round elimination game in Oklahoma City.
While the final score wasn’t in their favor, the season as a whole was anything but a loss.
UHV finished with a 29-23 overall record and a 19-9 mark in Red River Athletic Conference play, earning its 10th all-time trip to the national tournament, a milestone that reflects the program’s continued growth and grit.
Junior Daizie Fuentez led the Jaguars in their final game, notching two of the team’s four hits and driving in the only run with a first-inning RBI single off the wall. Kenzie Chambers and Deeandra Maldonado added a hit each, but UHV couldn’t hold back a seven-run surge from the Lady Crusaders.
A record setting year for the Jags.
Beyond the postseason appearance, the Jaguars made history throughout the year.
Kenzie Chambers shattered the program's career stolen bases. Claire Blinka, a Port Lavaca native, earned First Team honors at the RRAC softball awards.
Senior class makes their last appearance on the field.
The game marked the end of the road for an impactful senior class, including Blinka, Chambers, Quinones, Wade, Jones, Bolin, Lara, Snedeker, and Zamora, each leaving a lasting legacy on and off the field.
While the scoreboard ended their tournament run, the season will be remembered as one of record-setting achievements, relentless hustle, and a team that made UHV proud. Go Jags!
