Big Lots Closing 100s Of Stores, Including 16 Texas Locations
2024 has been the make or break year for many businesses, small and large and now, next up on the chopping block is the Ohio-based retail chain Big Lots.
HUNDREDS OF STORE CLOSURES
Big Lots, known for its low prices abruptly announced it would be closing down hundreds of stores, including many in Texas. The mega retail chain began slapping banners across many of its locations websites stating “Closing This Location” offering a “Closing Sale” for many of its already low priced items.
Here 16 Texas locations anticipated to be closing soon:
- Austin (Wells Branch)
- Baytown
- Dallas (Park Forest)
- Fort Worth (East Fwy)
- Frisco
- Galveston
- South Garland
- Groves
- Houston (Museum District and Northwest Houston)
- Kilgore
- Mcallen
- Richardson
- San Antonio (Hollywood Park)
- Stephenville
- Terrell
OPTIMISTIC FOR THE FUTURE
Although the massive retail chain filed bankruptcy and numerous stores across the country are closing, don’t expect price hikes in the future. Bruce Thorn, President and Chief Executive Officer expressed his gratitude for his loyal customers and explained, “As we move through this process, we remain committed to offering extreme bargains.”
Big Lots began the year with over 1,400 stores, however that number is rapidly dwindling down as the company transitions to new owners who are taking on the challenge to bring back the store to its glory days.
CALIFORNIA TO TAKE THE BIGGEST HIT
So far, California will take the biggest hit, with 54 stores closing soon. Arizona and Washington state follow with 13 and 12 store closures announced. You can check out a more detailed list HERE.
