Growing up in Victoria, we had many different places to go dancing. One of the places is now a simple concrete slab, and another land that has been taken over by nature.
Victoria used to have some iconic places to go dancing, like Sun Valley Ranch and Schroeder Hall. We decided to take a look back at Victoria's best dance halls that we wish were still around.

Victoria Dancehalls that we miss.

Sun Valley Ranch.

The Sun Valley Ranch probably had the most shows back in the 80s and 90s featuring every genre. Toby Keith, Tim McGraw, Kenny Chesney,  ZZ Top, Emilio, La Mafia, and Ramon Ayala. Just to name a few. Of course, we can't forget about that Olympic sized pool in the back. While the building still stands today, it has been totally remodeled and now the Son Valley Church.  Here is a photo of the Sun Valley after it closed down.

Riverside Market Square.

The Riverside was popping every weekend and featured all genres including rock shows. I remember as a kid hearing that Quiet Riot was performing there. Also, back in 2007 Three Days Grace performed there and a huge show featuring Tracy Lawrence also happened before the venue closed. Let us not forget the short time that it served as a dual venue with the Liquid Lounge and Kickers. Today, it's just a slab at Riverside Park.

The Blue Bonnet Convention Center.

The Blue Bonnet Convention Center didn't have as many shows but brough a couple of huge names and one show that never happened. A young up and coming artist by the name of Garth Brooks performed there in the early 90s after a meet and greet at the Walmart in Victoria. The Queen of cumbia, Selena also performed there. Keith Whitley was a show that never happened. He died the week he was supposed to play at the Bluebonnet Convention Center.

The Second Oldest Dancehall in Texas, Schroeder Hall.

Schroeder Hall continued to have incredible shows up until New Years Eve 2023! This is Texas music history and the 2nd oldest dancehall in Texas. With huge stars gracing its stage such as Willie Nelson, George Jones, Conway Twitty, Charly Pride, Ronnie Milsap, Old Dominion, and we can't forget about the iconic Texas Country names such as Pat Green, Kevin Fowler, Honeybrowne, Cojo and Randy Rogers just to name a few.  The building still stands today but has gone quiet, We miss you Schroeder Hall!

The Lomita Opry House.

This one is probably the most forgotten from back then. All that remains from that property is the curb and concrete from the parking lot. Other than that, nature has taken over that spot. Not only was it a hot dance spot on the South side of Victoria, it had an incredible nostalgic vibe. Mostly Country and Tejano dances were held at this venue. I can't seem to find a photo of the hall. If you have one, please send it back. I can't find a photo of the Opry house, if you have one, please send it to us.

Let us know who you saw perform at these venues and send us pictures if you have them. Message us on the app today.
