Hunter Hayes Scores First Platinum-Selling Single With ‘Wanted’
Hunter Hayes is not only celebrating his very first Top 5 hit single this week with ‘Wanted,’ but he is also basking in the joy of having his very first platinum-selling single with the same song. ‘Wanted’ has officially sold over one million copies, according to the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA).
In addition to the certification and charting position, ‘Wanted’ has given the young star on the rise the fastest-climbing single of his career. The tune is the second release from Hayes’ self-titled debut album on Atlantic Records, following the success of the lead single, ‘Storm Warning,’ which is now nearing gold certification.
“I cannot believe I’m celebrating a platinum single in the Top 5!” Hayes exclaimed. “I’ve been dreaming about what this would feel like my entire life … and huge thanks to country radio’s support and the best fans in the world. I now know that it feels better than I ever imagined. Thank you!”
‘Wanted’ is also in the Top 20 on the iTunes digital all genres chart. Combined with the sales of ‘Storm Warning,’ to date, Hayes has sold nearly two million digital singles. With all these milestones piling up on his resume, it’s looking like he will have a great birthday — he turns 21 on Sept. 9.
His friends and family will have quite the task of trying to buying gifts that will outshine all of these recent successes!
