Focus: Has Greed Actually Been Ripping Off Texas
Let me begin by saying that this is not political. This concerns families needing a financial break and why lower prices have taken so long.
Many big retail chains have recently announced, seemingly out of the blue, 'We are lowering prices to help you out due to inflation.'
That's great; it is a relief after soaring prices started in 2021. All the big retail companies figuratively raised their hands and wanted you to know they were thinking about you and your family. Even the White House took some credit for the lowering of prices.
So, suddenly, you are lowering prices to help us out? Thank you for finally admitting you have had rising pricing. We have paid more and more for food, clothing, and fuel items for the previous three years. It's about time you acknowledged this.
Now, big business, you want us to congratulate you for helping us. Okay, thank you. But why did you overcharge us for the last three years? Couldn't you realize that prices were too high years ago? So forgive me if it takes me a little while to applaud your newfound desire to help us.
In a capitalist economy, prices increase or decrease as market conditions fluctuate; I get that. Events happen to the markets that influence pricing, but as one retail giant announced lowering prices on thousands of items, I couldn't help but wonder, what's the catch?
Once again, kudos, Big Retail; we appreciate the help. But did you admit we have been paying too much over the last three years, and that's on you?
