Goliad County Resident Tests Positive for COVID-19…Again
Just ahead of today's meeting over at the Office of Emergency Management, the latest totals from Victoria County stand at 132 confirmed cases with 80 individuals having recovered from the virus. 3 Victoria County residents have died as a result of the virus.
Victoria County Public Health Authority Dr. John McNeill reviewed the new symptoms released by CDC, including fever, cough, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, chills, repeated shaking with chills (RIGORS), muscle pain, headache, sore throat, and a new loss of taste or smell. It's possible for symptoms to appear anywhere from 2 to 14 days after exposure to the virus. Everyone is encouraged to continue to practice social distancing, staying home if you are sick, and frequently scrubbing those hands. As the city reopens, please remember to wear a mask when out in public.
A question that is on many people's minds as businesses reopen is weather or not an individual can catch the coronavirus a second time. Can the virus actually infect the same person again? The Victoria Advocate shared a story by Samantha Douty about one individual in Goliad County who seems to have caught the virus for a second time. It is also possible that this person was just placed on the recovery list too early. My heart sank a little when reading that. Goliad County officials say one person contracted the virus and was later listed as recovered. That person was tested for coronavirus again after being moved to the recovery list and ended up testing positive for the virus again.
