The Girl Scouts of Greater South Texas are extending an invitation to learn more about the organization with an open house on Sept. 8th, says the Victoria Advocate. The Victoria Service Center, 104 W. River St., will be open from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. that Saturday with an informational and educational program as well as fun activities for girls, those already in scouting and those interested in joining the Girl Scouts.

The program for the day includes information about the religious program available through the Girl Scouts for all girls and information on the fall sales program for leaders, parents and Scouts.

At 11 a.m., senior Girl Scout Kyra Williams will give a presentation about her recent trip to NASA. She will also discuss how other Girl Scouts can apply for future trips. From 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., crafts, games and service projects will be available. The Girl Scout shop will be open from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Membership staff will be on hand to register new Scouts, answer questions and provide information about troops and training.
