Don’t Believe The Hype- French Bulldogs Make Terrible Pets
Don't believe the hype, French Bulldogs make terrible pets.
That's right, I said it and I'm going to stand by it too.
According to news sources like
,">Marketwatch, " French Bulldogs are reigning as the most popular breed in the U.S., again in 2024"
The same report offers that Frenchie's are also specifically the most popular dog breed in states like California, Florida, New York, Montana, and you guessed it, Texas too.
"Get a Frenchie," they said, " They are super sweet," they said. "You'll never want another dog," they said.
Everything they told me about owning a Frenchie was a lie.
In fact, I can prove that French bulldogs actually make terrible pets.
But I just don't have the heart to do it. I mean look at that sweet face!
Besides, one of the many things they don't tell you about Frenchie's is that they hold a grudge, big time. They don't forgive and they certainly never forget.
Arlo, our 4 year old Frenchie is still bitter about having to attend obedience school and that was three years ago. She would remember if I proved she is terrible.
Back in 2021, our oldest son brought his very sweet, very docile and very old German Shepherd inside the house only to unknowingly set our Frenchie off into outer space. It turns out that German Shepherds are the enemy of the Frenchie. We didn't know. Arlo to this day still gives my son attitude even though he knows better than to bring the German Shepard back to the house.
Frenchie's other enemies include every cat on the planet, every vacuum cleaner in the neighborhood and diets of any kind. Frenchie's especially hate diets.
Oh and they shed like crazy!
They also can't swim without special floating devices and their farts smell like death itself. On a side note, they also don't do yoga and have no problems making fun of your downward dog.
French Bulldogs make terrible pets, but they are perfect as your best friend.
