Another Texas School District Approves Free Meals for All Students
The Victoria Independent School District has recently announced their participation in the Community Eligibility Provision (CEP) program. The federally funded initiative is aimed at providing free meals to students in eligible schools. For the 2023-24 school year, all students enrolled in VISD will have access to free breakfast and lunch during the school day.
VISD will be able to provide nutritious meals to students without charge, ensuring that every child has access to wholesome food, regardless of their economic circumstances. This initiative serves as a testament to VISD's commitment to the overall well-being and academic success of its students.
In addition to the free breakfast and lunch program, VISD is excited to continue to offer students the opportunity to purchase a la carte items, vending machine items, and extra meals, allowing them to customize their dining experience according to their preferences. Parents/guardians will need to create a Titan Family Portal account if one does not exist. Money remaining on students’ accounts from the 2022-23 school year will rollover.
To ensure continued eligibility and participation in the CEP program, parents/guardians will need to complete the Income Survey. The survey will help gather information necessary for the district to qualify for additional federal funding and maintain the program's sustainability. It is important for every family to complete the survey, regardless of their income level.
