Join us in celebrating Dia de los Muertos at The Nave and De Leon Plaza in downtown Victoria on November 2nd starting at 11 a.m.! The Festival will begin with a somber March of Remembrance from St. Mary’s church (Church & Main Streets) to the Nave Museum (Moody & Commercial Streets). All are invited to join with marchers, many of whom who will carry pictures of their deceased loved ones. Then festivities will commence with a sometimes macabre, always loving celebration on the grounds of The Nave Museum and De Leon Plaza. Activities include children’s arts and crafts hosted by the Museum of the Coastal Bend, Manhattan Art Program, the Children’s Discovery Museum and the Victoria Public Library, face painting hosted by The Nave, food vendors, a Mercado with arts and crafts vendors and performances all day both at The Nave and at De Leon Plaza. Featured performers include East and West High School Ballet Folklorico dance ensemble, “DJ Encore” Corey Hinojosa, Joe Reyna, Rajolei Pickens, Freddy Reyes’ Mariachi Tejano and more. Festivities will continue into the evening at DeLeon Plaza with a street dance featuring Tejano bands Cumbachero and Lokura. Beer will be available for sale at De Leon Plaza beginning at 12 noon. No ice chests please.
