Videos Prove Father of Four Year Old Texan Boy Intentionally Starved His Son to Death

The biological father of four-year-old Benjamin Cervera, has been arrested and charged with intent to cause bodily injury to a child after multiple videos surfaced of 28-year-old Brandon Lee Cervera intentionally starving his own son to death.

Where the videos come from is as equally shocking as the death of Benjamin Cervera.

Benjamin Cervera was brought to the ER at the Children’s Hospital of San Antonio back in August by Brandon who right away claimed the little boy had injured himself. Staff tried to resuscitate Benjamin to no avail and he died minutes after his arrival. Nurses quickly surmised by the boy's physical appearance that neglect and abuse were apparent and immediately called authorities.

Police begin with the investigation of the residence.

Brandon claimed in his initial police interview that he had videos to prove his son had harmed himself but even with his claims, police noted signs of concerns when they entered Cervera's home and found all of the cabinets and refrigerators with locks on them. Benjamin's door to his room also had a lock intended to keep the little boy imprisoned in his room, which only contained a single heavily soiled mattress.

Benjamin's autopsy confirmed he had died of starvation.

Thankfully Texas authorities were able to seize the "videos" Brandon thought would prove his innocence... to the contrary.

The videos shockingly came from a seized relative's cell phone who was living with the Cerveras at the time of the abuse and all of the videos proved little Benjamin was continually begging for food and water, often acting erratically in the videos trying to get the help he desperately needed.

The details of those videos can be read about in an article here, provided by Law and Crime.

How do you report child abuse in Texas?

It's not known in the article whether Benjamin attended any type of schooling where teachers are trained to look for and report signs of abuse. But what about Benjamin's family members or the relative that videotaped the neglect on their phone? What role do they play in reporting the known abuse of Benjamin?

If you suspect any child is suffering from abuse or neglect, please call the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services at 1-800-252-5400, or visit their website here for more information.

Here is a Youtube video from KSAT 12 of the arrest.

Please report any abuse of a child you may witness.

It does not appear at this time that the relative who videotaped Benjamin on multiple occasions begging for food and water will face criminal charges.
