With all of this talk of the winter storm coming to Texas this weekend, it's bringing back the time that led up to the extreme weather conditions in 2021. Right now, the weekend weather has lows in the upper teens and 20s this weekend.
As of 01/21, here is what the weekend numbers look like:
  • Saturday 59/21 80% chance of showers
  • Sunday 37/18
  • Monday 46/23
The wind chill almost hit zero degrees during 2021 winter storm.
Back in February 2021, we had extremely cold temperatures, plus black ice and flurries. The lowest recorded temperature during that 4-day stretch was 13 degrees, with a wind chill that got down to 2 degrees. The temperature stayed below freezing for almost four full days.
South Texans don't know how to drive on black ice.
During this time, things came to a standstill in Victoria. We are not built for living life in extreme cold. I remember driving like 3 miles an hour to work, and I still felt like I was going to slide off of the road.  While we did get some flurries, the big problem was black ice. In the picture, that was not snow, it was ice.

Some Victoria residents were without water and used melting ice to flush toilets.

Many of us also did not have water during this time. In fact, I remember melting snow so we could use the water to flush the toilets. This current weather forecast is eerily similar to 2021. Be careful and don't get on the roads unless you absolutely have to. Stay warm my friends.
