Dwight Yoakam has announced the release of a new album that will be a greatest hits collection with a twist.

On Swimmin' Pools, Movie Stars ..., Yoakam will re-imagine some of his most well-known songs -- 11 in total -- as bluegrass tunes. The singer-songwriter has partnered with Sugar Hill Records for the release and assembled a group of highly talented bluegrass musicians to play on the project: Bryan Sutton, a Grammy winner and nine-time International Bluegrass Music Association Guitar Player of the Year on guitar; Grammy winner Stuart Duncan on fiddle and banjo; 14-time Grammy winner Barry Bales on bass; Adam Steffey on mandolin; and Scott Vestal on banjo. Johnathan Clark, Brian Whelan, Davey Faragher and Bryan Joyce provide harmony vocals.

Multi-Grammy winner Gary Paczosa, "Whiskey Lullaby" songwriter Jon Randall and Yoakam are producers on Swimmin' Pools, Movie Stars ..., which was recorded at Tennessee's Southern Ground Studio and Los Angeles' Capitol Records Studio B. Chris Lord Alge mixed the project.

Yoakam released his 15th studio album, Second Hand Heart, in 2015. The album notched a No. 2 debut on the Billboard Top Country Albums chart, making it Yoakam’s highest-charting record in 26 years.

Swimmin' Pools, Movie Stars ... is set for release on Sept. 23. Yoakam has a number of tour dates scheduled throughout the rest of 2016; a full list can be found on his website.
