Darius Rucker to Play Charity Concert at Ohio High School
Darius Rucker is ready to do his part in a season of giving by joining a charity concert.
Per local news via Cincinnati.com, the charity show will take place on May 7, 2020 at Elder High School in Price Hill, Ohio, and will be hosted by another famous face. Minnesota Vikings tight end Kyle Rudolph will host an event that will also feature the Bronson Arroyo Band as another musical guest.
Rudolph and Rucker are not strangers — the two met a decade ago at the University of Notre Dome and have become friends since. When Rudolph approached Rucker about his planned event, Rucker was "all on board for it."
"I'm honored that Darius is joining us for this concert. It will be an incredible opportunity for Cincinnati to come together for a great cause and to see Darius truly rock the Pit," Rudolph says.
The concept was one borrowed from another country music star. Rudolph credits Garth Brooks as an artist he watched sell out both professional and college stadiums. Proceeds from the concert will go to a school fund to help complete a fitness center and provide scholarships to students in need. The concert also will benefit the charity Kids2Camp, which helps send children in need to sports camps. Ticket costs vary by location and currently on sale through Ticketmaster and on Rucker's official website.
Rucker recently released a new album with his '90s band Hootie & the Blowfish called Imperfect Circle. The project is available to download and stream on all music platforms.
