Darius Rucker is coming to The Voice! The country singer and Hootie & the Blowfish frontman is set to mentor Blake Shelton's team members on the upcoming Season 17 of the iconic reality singing competition.

Entertainment Tonight broke the news that Rucker will join Team Blake for the battle rounds, and Shelton is looking forward to it.

“He’s the perfect choice as a mentor on The Voice for obvious reasons,” Shelton says. “I made a joke earlier to one of the artists on the show, I go, ‘You know Darius literally has proven that if he decides whatever it is he wants to do in life, he conquers it.’”

The Way They Were: See Blake Shelton and Adam Levine's Bromance

Rucker — who is reuniting with Hootie & the Blowfish for a new album, Imperfect Circle, that's due in November — tells ET he's a huge fan of Shelton and The Voice.

“First of all, he’s so funny and the thing that really makes him a great coach is he’s so genuine. Blake is never BS, ever,” Rucker states. “He’s honest and like I’ve told him, me and my family watch the show religiously. We watch it all the time and, you know, Blake is always honest with them and he’s always got something cool to say.”

Rucker promises that Shelton will "definitely" win the upcoming season with his help.

The Voice returns to NBC for its 17th season on Sept. 23, and there will be a major change. Adam Levine decided not to return after 16 seasons, and Shelton's girlfriend, Gwen Stefani, is re-joining the show alongside Shelton, Kelly Clarkson and John Legend as coaches. Usher will mentor Legend's team, while will.i.am will mentor Stefani's team and Normani joins Team Kelly as her adviser.
