Cody Johnson Drops Brand-New Tune, ‘On My Way to You’ [LISTEN]

Cody Johnson has shared the first track off of his major label debut, Ain't Nothin' to It, and the new song takes on some classic subject matter. "On My Way to You" is a true country love song about finding the person you're meant to be with forever, and realizing you had to go through the hard stuff before getting to your happy ending.

Backed by some pretty powerful instrumentals, Johnson sings about how all the hardships and heartbreaks that he has endured were more than worth it, now that he has made it to his girl. The love song is even sweeter because it's a true story. “This song is about … truthfully, it's about me on my path to my wife. Maybe you'll relate to it. I hope you do," Johnson says in a press release about the intimate song. Press play above to hear the full track.

Earlier this summer, the Texas singer-songwriter signed a partnership with Warner Music Nashville, but he is by no means new to making music. Since 2006, Johnson has been making a name for himself in the country world with a traditional sound that stays true to the roots of the genre while still bringing a fresh perspective. An independent artist since the very beginning, Johnson self-released his sixth studio album, Gotta Be Me, in 2016. The project, which boasts big names such as Randy Rogers and the Brothers Osborne in its writing credits, reached No. 2 on the country charts and led to appearances at festivals all over the country.
