Check Out a Few Paranormal Hot Spots in South Texas
One of my hobbies includes visiting and researching Haunted places in South Texas. If this is something that interests you, chances are you have probably heard just about everything you can about Presidio La Bahia and the Yorktown Hospital and other places in the Crossroads, but what about a little further out? I have visited many other haunted places in South Texas including a few places where I have experienced 'strange' stuff.
The USS Lexington in Corpus probably has the most real experience that I have had and this was experienced with others who can corroborate. My family has also had weird vibes at the St. Anthony Hotel and the Scottish Rite Auditorium, both in San Antonio. You can read about these experiences below. First, take a look at the gallery and let us know how many of these places you have visited. I know there are so many more, however, these are the most interesting ones to me. Please add to the list on the Facebook comments of this status.
ST. ANTHONY HOTEL IN SAN ANTONIO
We actually stayed here on time and not by choice. Sometimes there is a reason that you get a cheap hotel on Priceline LOL. We actually switched rooms shortly after we checked in and both my wife and I had an uneasy feeling. The next room wasn't much better as the TV turned off in the middle of the night by itself, this was before all the smart technology.
THE HAUSE VENUE, FORMERLY THE GOLDEN GECKO, VICTORIA
Here is a place I used to DJ at regularly many years back, before the upstairs portion was redone. You talk about a creepy place at 3 in the morning after everyone left. Many noises where there shouldn't be, especially backstage upstairs. I mean, why wouldn't you go up there by yourself at 3 in the morning? Have you ever experienced anything at this venue in Downtown Victoria?
VICTORIA'S BLACK SWAN INN, SAN ANTONIO
Not only is it one of the most historic sites in San Antonio, but it's also one of the most haunted too. Right up my alley! It's is located on the site of the historic battle of Salado and built in 1867. The Black Swan Inn.
MAGNOLIA HOUSE IN SEGUIN:
Plan a road trip to Sequin, Texas, and spend the night in the Magnolia Hotel. It is considered to be the most haunted hotel in Texas. If you check out their website, pretty much every ghost hunting show to ever exist has spent in the night in the Magnolia.
THE BERCLAIR MANSION, BERCLAIR, TEXAS
Rooted in the rich history of San Antonio, the historic Menger Hotel reigns as the oldest continuously operating hotel west of the Mississippi. Some people refer to the Menger as the ‘Most Haunted Hotel in Texas.' It is reportedly home to as many as 32 ghosts.
YOAKUM COMMUNITY HOSPITAL
Most people always talk about Yorktown but not very many mention Yoakum Community Hospital. The second floor was the scene of a murder in 1992. A nurse was killed by her estranged husband in the waiting area. It is now considered by some people to be a hot spot for paranormal activity. Investigator allegedly attacked.
MY USS LEXINGTON EXPERIENCE:
This was experienced by my wife, my best friend, and myself. We decided to make a trip to tour Lady Lex, while they were filming the Blockbuster hit 'Pearl Harbor'. It was a Sunday and we were walking the tour, like usual. We decide to take make a turn and head into the library. We have a nice conversation with a man who had so many interesting things to say. We walk out, and we turned back around to ask another question. It had been no more than thirty seconds, the man was gone. It was a small room with no entrance or exits other than the one we were standing at. We told an employee at the end of the tour and she said, the library is closed today and nobody is in there.
