Training sessions for Court Appointed Special Advocates have been scheduled in Victoria and DeWitt counties. According to the Victoria Advocate, Victoria County training will be from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Jan. 19 and Jan. 26 at the Boys and Girls Club, 202 Hopkins St. Training in DeWitt County will be from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Jan. 28 at a location to be determined later.

Golden Crescent CASA was established in 1995 to provide trained community volunteers to advocate in the best interests of abused and neglected children involved in the court system. Today, the organization serves children in foster care in Calhoun, DeWitt, Goliad, Gonzales, Jackson, Lavaca, Refugio and Victoria counties.

Churches, businesses, student groups or any other organizations interested in a short presentation about CASA are also encouraged to call to make arrangements.
