
Bill Miller BBQ Sued for Serving “Dangerously Hot” BBQ Sauce
Bill Miller BBQ has been ordered to pay $2.8 million for serving BBQ sauce was "dangerously hot." According to fox7austin.com, 19-yearo--old, Genesis Monita, ordered breakfast tacos with BBQ sauce in May of 2023. That's a new one, BBQ with a Breakfast taco.
HOW HOT WAS THE SAUCE?
When she received the container of hot sauce, it was so hot that it caused her to drop it on her leg, causing a second degree burn. According to Bill Miller BBQ policy, the sauce is served at the minimum temperature of 165 degrees. On that day the sauce was allegedly 189 degrees, according to the lawsuit.
THE LAWSUIT BY THE NUMBERS:
According to the article, Monita was paid $900,000 for past and future mental anguish, physical pain and impairment. Since the court found Bill Miller BBQ negligent, they were also ordered to pay the total of $1.9 million in punitive damages. Bill Miller could appeal the decision but they have not taken action at this time.
