Astros Continue Surge Take Over Top Spot in AL West
LET'S GO ASTROS!
Fresh off of back-to-back series sweeps of the Texas Rangers and Chicago White Sox. The Houston Astros continued their winning ways by defeating Baltimore 10-2 last night. They have now won 8 straight games and have leapfrogged the Oakland Athletics in the standings. Not only are they tops in the AL West they now have the best record in the American League at 44-28. Only the San Fransisco Giants have a better record in baseball at 46-26.
THE OFFENSIVE EXPLOSION CONTINUES:
The Houston Astros tallied 13-hits, just another day in the office for the 'Stros. Brantley went 3 for 3 and is hitting .350 in the third spot in the lineup. Gurriel's batting average is .333, Alvarez is hitting .308. That is a very impressive and dangerous 3-4-5 spot in the lineup. The Houston Astros also have the most hits and RBI in the Majors. They also have the least strikeouts in the league. The Astros make contact and play small ball when they have to. Let's keep the momentum going. GO ASTROS.
5 OUTS AWAY FROM A NO-HITTER:
Everyone has been talking about the explosive Astros offense and rightfully so, but how about their pitching? Last night, Jake Odorizzi and Christian Javier had a combined no-hitter going into the eighth inning. Brandon Bielak came in to pitch in the eighth inning and gave up a home run to Maikel Franco.

Justin Verlander no-hit the Toronto Blue Jays back on September 1st, 2019. It was Verlander's 3rd career no-hitter.
