A South Texas councilman is in hot water after being caught selling cocaine. My San Antonio reports that Hidalgo County Sheriff's deputies arrested Ruben Villalon, 52, a council member for Sullivan City Place 4, on January 31, 2025.
After a month long investigation, Villalon was arrested alongside Jose Alonso Galaviz, 45, and Ricardo Rodriguez, 30, all facing drug-related charges.
UNDER SURVEILLENCE:
The article reports, surveillance of Ruben’s Tire Shop, located at 515 El Pinto Road in the border city west of McAllen, began in August when an undercover narcotics investigator purchased $10 worth of cocaine weighing 0.4 grams from Galaviz. Another informants also allegedly bought cocaine from Galaviz at the tire shop that same month.
Last Friday, the sheriff's department executed a search warrant at the tire shop, where it said it found 13 baggies of cocaine. The councilman is facing two drug charges and received $100,000 in bonds.
