An arrest has been made following a New Year's Day shooting in Victoria at the Icehouse Sports Bar and Grill.
The Victoria Police Department sent out a press release to local media outlets including Crossroadstoday.com detailing the arrest of a 25-year-old who was linked to the shooting. That arrest happened yesterday. Victoria PD got an assist from the U.S. Marshal Service Gulf Coast Violent Offenders Task Force who placed Jose Camacho under arrest and charged with Deadly Conduct.
The New Year's Day shooting injured a 28-year-old Palacious resident named Edgar Corona at the time the shots were fired.
The task force caught up with Camacho on Tuesday and attempted to stop him as he drove through Victoria County. Camacho attempted to flee from officers down Chamrad Lane in Victoria county but was soon apprehended by the task force.
It's a long list of charges following Camacho's arrest. There was a warrant out for a deadly conduct charge, a charge of driving without a license, tampering with evidence, possession of a controlled substance, evading in a vehicle, and possession of Marijuana.
Camacho will spend the beginning of 2021 in the Victoria County jail with no bond. As the investigation continues, there was one Victoria officer had discharged their firearm at the Icehouse the day of the shooting. That person has been placed on leave.
