Annual Yorktown Western Days Takes Place This Weekend
The 66th Annual Yorktown Western Days Festival is just around the corner,
scheduled from Friday, October 18, to Sunday, October 20, and promises a weekend filled with family-friendly fun, community spirit, and a celebration of small-town culture.
“Yorktown Western Days is a cherished tradition which dates back to the 1950s and highlights the rich heritage and camaraderie of the Yorktown community,” said event organizer, Kristen Gibson. “Festival goers can look forward to a variety of events, including a pig scramble, mutton bustin’, cornhole tournament, and the return of the carnival. The festival also features free live music, Ole Time Gunfighters, and a special Kiddie Parade on Friday evening themed “A Night at the Movies,” said Gibson.
She went on to share details on the organization that puts on Western Days each year - Yorktown’s Western Days Association. “Yorktown’s Western Days Association is a 501(c)3 organization. The Yorktown Western Days festival helps finance our association’s Wagon Wheel Charities, which includes scholarships, Cowboy Claus (providing Christmas gifts to local children in need), supporting the FFA program, and many more local Yorktown organizations.”
