18 Inning Win for UHV Jaguars in NAIA Softball Tournament
I've seen baseball games go 12, 13 innings before and, that's a long game, but they've got nothing on the University of Houston-Victoria Jaguars, who went 18 innings yesterday, eventually shutting out Doane 1-0.
It was the opening round of the NAIA Softball Tournament, and the Jags are in Oklahoma City, and now need to win twice to capture the bracket title. They fell to Oklahoma City 5-2 in other action. Now, the stage is set for today's 12 noon start against the tourney division's #1 seed Oklahoma City.
The win came on a walk-off RBI single from Michelle Revels with 2 outs. Pitcher Haley Beam was on point, giving up only 8 hits while fanning 4 batters, going the distance for the shutout.
Yesterday's 18 inning contest was a record, the longest softball game in both NAIA and UHV history.
