Willie Nelson released a new album titled 'Band of Brothers' in June, but the prolific music legend is already looking forward to his next record.

The upcoming project is titled 'December Day.'

“We already got it pretty much finished,” Nelson tells Radio.com.

Unlike 'Band of Brothers,' which features some top Nashville session players, 'December Day' will return to Nelson's core band members. “It’s me and my band, and our sound. As opposed to the Nashville guys," he says.

The title track is a song Nelson wrote more than 40 years ago that previously appeared on 'Yesterday's Wine' in 1971. Other titles include 'Summer of Roses' and 'It’s Not Supposed to Be That Way.' The album will also feature some classic covers. “We’re doing things like the Irving Berlin song ‘What’ll I Do’ and ‘Alexander’s Ragtime Band,'” Nelson shares.

Other upcoming projects include a collaborative album between Nelson, Kris Kristofferson and Merle Haggard, and a proposed Ray Price tribute album. Kacey Musgraves has also expressed interest in recording an old Nelson song titled 'Are You Sure?' with him.

“This is the one she wanted to do,” Nelson says. “It’s one of those obscure songs of mine that I wrote many years ago in Nashville.”

The music icon has nothing but praise for Musgraves, who did some touring with him earlier in the year.

“I’d love to record with her,” he says. “She’s a great artist.”
