Last week, we reported on the January 28th fire that destroyed the Victoria Islamic Center on Airline Road. It was a tragedy for sure. Fortunately, no one was hurt in the fire, and on the plus side, it was very encouraging to see how many Victoria residents came out in support of the Islamic community, including members and officials of the local Jewish Synagogue, which was offered as a location for the center's use until it can be rebuilt.

After investigation by the police and fire departments, it has been determined that the fire was the result of arson. Victoria Police and Victoria Crime Stoppers are still asking for information on this arson. Here is the original press release from Victoria Crime Stoppers.

On January 28, at about 2 am, a fire gutted the Victoria Islamic Center at 201 E Airline Dr.  An investigation shows the fire was the result of arson and Victoria Crime Stoppers is looking for information about the cause of the blaze.
