Victoria Civic Chorus and VC Choir to Perform
The Victoria College Choir and the Victoria Civic Chorus, under the direction of Marylynn Fletcher, will perform at 7:30 p.m. Friday at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church, 4102 N. Ben Jordan St.. The chorus will perform “Gloria” by John Rutter with organ, brass and percussion. The concert is open to the public, and tickets are $5 per person. Tickets can be purchased at the door or from any Victoria Civic Chorus member.
In addition to carols sung by the Victoria Civic Chorus and the Victoria College Choir, two smaller ensembles will perform. Victoria College’s Choraliers, a sextet, will perform “Carol of the Bells” and “Sing We Noel.” The Victoria Chamber Singers will perform “Wexford Carol,” “He Smiles within His Cradle,” and Richard Bennett’s “What Sweeter Music.”
The final number is “Gloria,” composed by John Rutter. This three-movement work is a tour de force for large chorus, organ, four trumpets, three trombones, tuba and percussion and is based on the Latin text from the Ordinary of the Mass.
