The first-ever Victoria College Counselor's Student and Faculty Wellness Presentation will be offered in two sessions this month. The presentation will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday on VC's main campus in the Health Sciences Center, Room 130, and again at noon Sept. 25 in the Johnson Symposium. "This presentation is a result of regulations and guidelines as well as information researched in regards to college student concerns," Keith Schindler, Victoria College counselor, told the Victoria Advocate. "At this time, the presentation is provided for students, faculty and staff, although we may look at opening future presentations to the public."

The hourlong presentation will cover:•  Substance and alcohol abuse •  How families and friends are affected by abuse •  How one can help get family or friends into treatment •  Effective treatment programs

Mary Helen Barrick of the Billy T. Cattan Recovery Outreach will give the presentation, which is free and open to Victoria College students, faculty and staff. Students in attendance will have a chance to win a VIP student parking permit, allowing parking in any reserved spot for one month. Students must be present at the end of the presentation for the drawing.
