Area small business owners can learn more about the opportunities and impacts of the Eagle Ford Shale on Wednesday morning during a free forum at the University of Houston-Victoria.

The event is being hosted by the UHV Small Business Development Center and School of Business Administration, and the Victoria Chamber of Commerce. It will take place from 8 a.m. to noon in the UHV University Center Multi-Purpose Room, 3007 N. Ben Wilson St.

The forum will include an economic impact presentation by Thomas Tunstall, director of the Center for Community and Business Research at the University of Texas at San Antonio Institute for Economic Development, and a talk about technology frontiers for small businesses by Matthew Lathrop of Rackspace Hosting, a business leader in hosting and cloud computing. Tom Kennelly, a project manager for the UTSA Institute for Economic Development Rural Business Program, will give an overview about the program.
