A Saddle Up for St. Jude trail ride and barbecue to benefit St. Jude Children's Research Hospital will be from 1-7 p.m. Saturday at the Joe and Glenda Heinold home, 3481 Weber Road. By participating in or attending this event, attendees will help raise funds for the world's premier pediatric cancer research center, reports the Victoria Advocate. These funds will help St. Jude in its ongoing fight against childhood cancer and other catastrophic diseases.

The trail ride will begin at 1 p.m. followed by a barbecue meal at 5 p.m. The barbecue plates are $8 each. A silent auction will also be held. It will end at 7 p.m.

"Our goal in holding this event is to help the children of the world who are stricken with diseases like cancer, AIDS, sickle cell disease and other catastrophic illnesses," said Glenda Heinold, coordinator of this Victoria event. "St. Jude Children's Research Hospital is a world leader in the fight against these diseases and has made great progress because of the help of people who participate in events like Saddle Up for St. Jude."
