Toby Keith’s “Red Solo Cup” Moves His Album Up The Charts

You just never know. I’ll be honest with you… the first time I heard Toby Keith I thought ‘this guy doesn’t have a chance’. Of course, I could not have been more wrong. It’s okay… I’ve been wrong before and I’ll be wrong some more. The first time I heard “Red Solo Cup” I thought ‘what is this?… You’ve got to be kidding’. Wrong again.
Toby Keith is finding success on the charts with both his album, Clancy’s Tavern and its’ latest single, “Red Solo Cup.” The album is at #3 this week, thanks in part to the viral success of the “Red Solo Cup” video, which includes a few celebrity cameos. In an interview with CMT Daily Roundup, Toby said, “A lot of people that night, a lot of artists, especially off my label, were there that night when we shot it. I called all my friends and said, ‘Everybody do something stupid with a red Solo Cup with your phone cam and send it to me.’” Some of those friends include Larry Bird, Eric Church, Sammy Hagar and Ted Nugent. The video has surpassed more than 10-million total views online.
