The Texas River Marathon Festival will be from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. May 3 at The PumpHouse Restaurant in Riverside Park. The event is sponsored by the Victoria Parks and Recreation Department in conjunction with The PumpHouse, Coastal Bend Paddlers, Guadalupe-Blanco River Authority, Canoe Trail of Goliad and the Fun Factory. The public is invited to participate in this free event featuring kayak trips on the Guadalupe River paddling trail in Riverside Park, water slides, a kayak tank, petting zoo, sports-related vendors, live entertainment and a kayak giveaway, says the Victoria Advocate. Kayak trips will begin at 10:30 a.m. and 1 p.m., departing from the boat ramp in Riverside Park and ending at Grover's Bend. Kayaks will be available, but space is limited. Participants must be 6 years and older. Those 18 and under must be accompanied by an adult. Pre-registration is required by May 2 at the Parks and Recreation office, 476 McCright Drive in Riverside Park.

The water slides, vendors, the kayak tank and petting zoo will get underway at noon. Remember to bring a swimsuit for the water slides (no buttons or zippers).

A paddling trail dedication will be at 2 p.m. at The PumpHouse, 1201 W. Stayton Ave. A kayak will be given away in a drawing directly following the dedication. Tickets for the kayak raffle will be available at the Parks and Recreation booth during the festival, and the winner must be present to win. The festival concludes with live entertainment from 3 to 7 p.m. at The PumpHouse.
