Taylor Swift‘s ‘We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together’ hit airwaves this week and immediately climbed to the top of the iTunes chart. After just days, it’s everywhere, which has the country singer’s ex-boyfriends scrambling to figure out if the song was written about them. Although some of Swift’s fans immediately thought Joe Jonas was the subject of the powerful ‘I’m over you’ anthem, the pop star believes otherwise.

“I can say it’s not about me, because I don’t think we’ve ever tried another time,” Jonas told an interviewer on 94.7 Fresh FM when asked if he thought Swift’s song is about him specifically.

And we’re inclined to believe him. Given that the song is pretty revengeful, Jonas maintained a positive attitude about it, even singing Swift’s praises.

“I like the song,” he added. “That said, I think the song is great…Taylor does pop music really well and I’m happy for her.”

Sounds like Swift doesn’t have bad blood with Jonas like she seems to with John Mayer. Swift let Mayer feel the wrath of her songwriting pen when she released ‘Dear John’ — a tune about the experience she had dating the notorious womanizer.

Jonas insists that although he and the ‘Mean’ hitmaker had a difficult breakup (after all, every breakup is messy), they are on good terms now.

“I haven’t really spoken to her recently, but I was able to go to her concert last year, and her show live is so phenomenal… I would say anybody should go see it if they have a chance,” he shared.

The Disney-star-turned-teen-heartthrob isn’t shy about letting his admiration for his ex-girlfriend shine through. Of his now-relationship with Swift, Jonas concluded, “I think we’re cool.”

Even though Swift seems to have mended some of her past relationships, she’s still capitalizing off of those that didn’t end so well. ‘We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together’ is currently No. 1 on iTunes in 29 countries.
