Dierks Bentley didn't let down his fans who drove and flew from cities and states away to be part of his annual Miles and Music for Kids charity event in Nashville on Sunday afternoon (Oct. 14). After pulling the plug on the motorcycle ride and the outdoor concert due to severe weather warnings, Bentley decided to throw an impromptu jam at the Hard Rock Cafe for those who were in town.

VISD Announces School Closures for Thursday And Friday

Due to expected weather conditions and hazardous driving conditions, the VISD classes will dismiss early on Thursday and be closed on Friday.

The following schedule applies for Thursday:
Schools that normally release at 2:50 will release at 12:00
Schools that normally release at 3:10 will release at 12:10
Schools that normally release at 3:30 will release at 12:30
Schools that normally release at 4:00 will release at 1 p.m.

Sporting and extracurricular events for Thursday evening have been cancelled and will be rescheduled.

Supervisors will alert employees to their release time from work on Thursday. All employees should report to work on their usual starting time on Thursday.

For Friday, all offices and schools in VISD will be closed for the day. Limited personnel will be asked to report to work on Friday. Those essential position personnel will be notified by their supervisor.

School related events that were scheduled for Friday will be rescheduled.

The Grand Opening Celebration for the Victoria Fine Arts Center will be scheduled for another date. All previously purchased tickets will be honored.

As all of you heard by now we are supposed to get snow on Thursday and Friday. I'm not a meteorologist but I say it won't happen. The weather experts around here are calling for a 20 percent chance of light snow with highs in the mid 30's on Thursday. Thursday night lows in the 20's with a 40 percent chance, and Friday with a 30 percent chance in the morning and afternoon.
