It's time to see which bird has what it takes to be this year's "Ruby Begonia" and carry on the tradition of famous turkeys from Cuero. Join your friends in Downtown Cuero, Texas on Historic Main Street as we race our Ruby Begonia hopefuls to see which feathered racer is crowned Ruby Begonia 2014!
On Saturday in Worthington, Minn., Ruby Begonia ran a successful race against Worthington's prize turkey, Paycheck, completing the block-and-a-half run at 1 minute and 18.12 seconds with zero penalties.
Fastest isn't always best. Although Paycheck crossed the finish line before Ruby Begonia in the initial leg of the Great Gobbler Gallop last month in Minnesota, penalties against the race team - for touching the bird during the race - helped the Cuero fowl take the first heat of the annual turkey race.
Kixs 108's Rob Garrett was on hand at Troubadours in downtown Cuero when Ruby Begonia took the first heat of the 'Great Gobbler Gallop' in Worthington, Minnesota last Saturday... but it was a nail-biter.
